Black Swan is approved by Vancouver Coastal Health. We maintain a close relationship with our health and industry professionals to ensure that our knowledge on sterilization and cross contamination is up to industry standard. Our staff has been thoroughly trained in every procedure, from the moment you walk into the shop, to when you leave.
Every needle used to tattoo at Black Swan is single use and is pre-sterilized. All tattoo instruments go through a thorough cleaning procedure before they are ready for reuse. Before every tattoo, you will see your artist remove all instruments from their own individual sterile pack. The tattoo stations are all disinfected using a hospital grade surface disinfectant. Every part of a tattoo station that is anticipated to become contaminated will first be covered with a barrier, including dry back dental bibs, to reduce the chances of cross contamination. If you would like to learn more, just ask us at the shop and we would be more than happy to run you through our set up and tear down procedures. Your safety and peace of mind is our top priority.
The studio is located in Gibsons, which is easily accessible from the Lower Mainland via a 40-minute ferry with one-way fare.
As a custom shop, we can take your ideas and transform them into your ideal tattoo. For larger pieces, we recommend checking out our artists’ portfolios and booking a free consultation with the artist whose style best fits the tattoo you have in mind.
Our shop rate is $170 per hour, with a minimum charge of $100 + tax for smaller pieces. If you would like to book an appointment, we require a non-refundable deposit of $50 per hour, which comes off of the total cost of the tattoo once it is finished; we require 48 hours notice to rebook a tattoo appointment.
There is no legal age for tattooing in the province of British Columbia; our shop policy is that you must be at least 18 years of age with valid, government-issued photo ID. We do not accept parental consent for tattooing. All tattoo services are provided at the artists’ discretion.
